Additional testing of certain lots manufactured since then indicate that a small percentage do not satisfy Allergan's quality standards and, therefore, Allergan has decided to recall all of the lots manufactured since the change was implemented. The problem has been corrected and all product currently being manufactured and shipped to our customers complies with all applicable standards. "While the possibility of adverse health consequences from consumer use of products from these lots is remote," said William C. Shepherd, president and chief executive officer of Allergan, "we have nevertheless decided to take this action to ensure that our customers receive only the highest quality products." Recall of the lots in question will result in a first quarter one-time pre-tax charge of approximately $4 million. Allergan's financial results for the first quarter of 1995 are scheduled to be released on April 19, 1995, and first quarter results before recognition of this recall charge are expected to be in line with analysts' consensus expectations.
