Allergan Comments On Key Presentations At The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Meeting.


IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1999--

During the recently staged Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO ARVO Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. ) meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Allergan scientists and collaborators presented data on a broad range of ophthalmic research and development activities. Allergan products and research and development programs were the subject of over 30 podium and poster presentations.

Presentation subjects included, but were not limited to, laboratory data demonstrating the neuroprotective effects of brimonidine (the active ingredient An active ingredient, also active pharmaceutical ingredient (or API), is the substance in a drug that is pharmaceutically active. Some medications may contain more than one active ingredient.  in Alphagan(R)); several new clinical studies on Alphagan(R) (brimonidine); new evidence in animal models of the neuroprotective effects of Memantine; Phase II clinical data on the Hypotensive hypotensive /hy·po·ten·sive/ (-ten´siv) marked by low blood pressure or serving to reduce blood pressure.
