Tamara J. Erickson, senior vice president and managing director of Arthur D. Little Arthur D. Little, Inc. is the world's first management consulting firm. Founded in 1886 by Arthur Dehon Little, an MIT chemist who discovered acetate, and co-worker Roger Griffin, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Arthur D. Little pioneered the concept of contracted technology research.  Inc., was named to chair the Corporate Governance Committee of the board. This committee, like the Audit and the Organization & Compensation Committees, will consist entirely of outside directors.

"The board voluntarily initiated the review of the company's corporate governance guidelines to increase the board's effectiveness," said Erickson. "The Corporate Governance Committee will assign board members to various committees and meet annually to assess the board's performance."

The guidelines are similar to those recently adopted by other large public companies and cover such matters as the mix of inside and outside directors, board compensation and performance, committees of the board, regular meetings of outside directors and the formal evaluation of the CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. .
