Allen named to GASB.


Tom L. Allen, Utah's state auditor, was named to a five-year term as a member of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) is currently the source of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) used by State and Local governments in the United States of America. .

Allen currently is a member of the American Institute of CPAs auditing standards board In the United States, the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) is the senior technical committee designated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to issue auditing, attestation, and quality control statements, standards and guidance to certified public . He chaired its members in government committee from 1987 to 1990. He also served on the Institute's government accounting and auditing committee as well as its ethics committee ethics committee A multidisciplinary hospital body composed of a broad spectrum of personnel–eg, physicians, nurses, social workers, priests, and others, which addresses the moral and ethical issues within the hospital. Allen told the Journal he was pleased and honored to join the GASB GASB Governmental Accounting Standards Board . "During the next year or two, the GASB must issue its longawaited statements on the financial reporting model and measurement focus," he said. "Once a proper foundation is laid by these statements, all other projects will be able to move forward much more rapidly. This will give us time to concentrate on service efforts and accomplishments reporting that better conveys what government does for its citizens."
