The carrier will use 161-seat MD-83 aircraft on the route.

Allegiant said the new Lansing-Las Vegas service will initially operate on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday each week, the peak demand days for flights in the market. The airline said it is offering introductory fares of $99 each way, and customers who book online at www.allegiantair.com receive an additional discount of five dollars off each direction. Complete air and hotel vacation packages are also available starting at $209 (per person, Monday departures, with three hotel nights). Prices quoted do not include airport fees and security fees.

Allegiant Air said reservations on the new Lansing-Las Vegas flights could be confirmed starting today. Allegiant Air customers can make reservations for the new flights and vacation packages on its website at www.allegiantair.com, through professional travel agents, or by calling its reservation centers at 888/594-6937 for "air only" and 800/432-3810 for Allegiant Vacations packages.

"We are extremely pleased to be introducing Allegiant Air and Allegiant Vacations' low fares and quality service to the city and people of Lansing and the State of Michigan," said Maurice J. Gallagher, the airline's chairman. "This is an exciting development for our airline and our customers as we launch the only non-stop service between Lansing and Las Vegas, and the only scheduled non-stop service to Las Vegas from Michigan outside of Detroit. Lansing travelers, travel agent professionals, community leaders and customers have made it clear there is strong demand for an alternative to the connecting flights and high fares previously necessary to fly to Las Vegas," said Gallagher. "Allegiant Air is making it easier and more affordable than ever for Lansing residents and travelers throughout Michigan to fly and vacation in Las Vegas with these new Capital City Airport flights."

"Allegiant Air's low fare non-stop flights to Las Vegas will be a big statewide draw for Capital City Airport and offers direct access to an exciting leisure destination for Lansing area customers," said Robert Selig, Executive Director of the Capital Region Airport Authority. "Allegiant's decision to 'Fly Lansing' is a direct result of our aggressive air service development incentive program. The new Allegiant service gives Lansing a new non-stop destination that is very popular with our convention business and vacation customers."
