Patrick Hassey, 57, to become president and chief executive officer, effective October 1, 2003. Mr. Hassey will succeed James L. Murdy, 65, who is retiring from the Company effective September 30, 2003. Mr. Hassey also has been elected to the ATI Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Mr. Hassey has 35 years of broad international experience in metals manufacturing, engineered products, marketing and sales. He was executive vice-president and a member of the corporate executive committee at Alcoa, Inc., at the time of his retirement in February 2003. Mr. Hassey has been working as an outside management consultant to ATI executive management since his retirement from Alcoa.

"At Alcoa, Pat successfully led the strategy development and marketing for Alcoa's aerospace businesses. He has extensive domestic and international experience in the aerospace, automotive, distribution, and industrial gas turbine sectors. Throughout his tenure at Alcoa, which included assignments in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and abroad, he established a reputation as a strong, visionary leader, with exceptional energy and strong values.
