Kourpias, retired international president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is an AFL-CIO/CLC trade union representing approx. 646,933 workers as of 2006 in more than 200 industries. He had been a leader in local district, state council, and international union service since 1952, when he was employed as a machinist. A lifelong advocate for the causes of senior citizens, George Kourpias serves as president of the National Council of Senior Citizens. He is also on the board of directors of Northwest Airlines.
