Murdy, who was elected Allegheny Technologies' president and chief executive officer on July 1, 2001. Douglas A. Walton, 58, whose responsibilities have been expanded and his new title is senior vice president, chief legal and administrative officer, and Richard J. Harshman, 45, vice president, finance and chief financial officer.

Mr. Kittenbrink will have responsibility for the Flat-Rolled Products and High Performance Metals segments, which include Allegheny Ludlum, Allvac, Allegheny Rodney, Wah Chang, Allvac Ltd, Titanium Industries, and Rome Metals. He will also have responsibility for the critical activities of procurement and safety throughout Allegheny Technologies.

Dr. Shilling will be responsible for leading new strategic initiatives focused on coordinated business development; product, process and information technologies; and Operational Excellence, the Company's customer focused lean manufacturing program. Coordinated business development initiatives will be directed at growth markets for Allegheny Technologies' current specialty materials products as well as the identification and development of new specialty materials business platforms. Within the context of the emphasis placed on coordinated business development, he also assumes responsibility for the Industrial Products segment, which includes Metalworking Products, Portland Forge and Casting Service, and for Allegheny Technologies International Offices (ATIOs). He will also be responsible for strategic planning, technology sales and licensing, and for accelerating the identification and development of technical and management talent.

Douglas A. Kittenbrink

Douglas A. Kittenbrink became president of Allegheny Ludlum in April of 2000. Mr. Kittenbrink joined the Company in 1992 as vice president of engineering for Allegheny Ludlum and has been given increasing levels of responsibility during his career. Prior to becoming president of Allegheny Ludlum, he was senior vice president of manufacturing, engineering, information technology and production control.

Mr. Kittenbrink is a member of the Iron and Steel Society and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers having served as chairman of the Project Management Division in 1995. Jack W. Shilling

Jack W. Shilling became president of Allegheny Technologies' High Performance Metals segment in April 2000. Prior to this, Dr. Shilling was president of Allegheny Ludlum. He joined Allegheny Ludlum in 1973 and has progressed through increasingly responsible positions in commercial, operations and technical management.

Dr. Shilling is a member of the American Society for Metals, the Metallurgical Society, and the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers. He is Chair of the Advanced Manufacturing Network of the Pittsburgh Technology Council. Jon D. Walton

Mr. Walton joined Allegheny Ludlum Corporation as General Counsel and Secretary in 1986 and was named Vice President in 1990. He became Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Allegheny Teledyne following the Allegheny Ludlum-Teledyne combination in August 1996. He was named Senior Vice President in 1997. Mr. Walton also serves as corporate ombudsman and chief ethics officer for the Company.
