Allegheny Power Comments on Ohio Commission Order.

In the order issued today, the PUCO voiced its support for a rate stabilization Stabilization

"While we would prefer to retain our Ohio business and implement market-based rates next year, we are willing to explore the options outlined in the order as a means of resolving this issue and bringing rate clarity to our 29,000 Ohio customers."

Market-based rates are scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2006 for all Allegheny Power Ohio customers as a result of the restructuring restructuring - The transformation from one representation form to another at the same relative abstraction level, while preserving the subject system's external behaviour (functionality and semantics).  of the electric industry under the Ohio Electric Choice Act.

Today's order directs the utilities to report back to the commission on their discussions within 14 days.
