, and Allegheny Generating Company, have received waivers from bank lenders under their syndicated credit agreements which extend through November 29, 2002.

Allegheny Energy and its subsidiaries continue discussions with their bank lenders under these and other facilities, which are in default, to secure additional funding and a longer term solution to the Company's liquidity needs.

Allegheny Energy had previously announced on October 8, 2002, that it, Allegheny Energy Supply Company, and Allegheny Generating Company were in technical default under their principal credit agreements after Allegheny Energy declined to post additional collateral in favor of several trading counterparties Counterparties
