Allegheny Energy CEO Selected for Management Hall of Fame.


GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE NYSE

:AYE) today announced that the company's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Paul J. Evanson, has been inducted into the GAMCO GAMCO Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Abu Dhabi, UAE)  Management Hall of Fame. GAMCO Investors, Inc., an investment management firm founded in 1977, manages assets of over $27 billion.

"We established the GAMCO Management Hall of Fame to honor corporate executives for their contributions to enhancing shareholder value," said Mario Gabelli, founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GAMCO Investors, Inc. "We selected Paul using criteria such as earning a superior rate of return over the long term and enhancing our clients' investment success. During Paul's short tenure, the market value of Allegheny's common stock has increased from about $1 billion to nearly $6 billion."

Mr. Evanson was elected Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allegheny Energy in June 2003. Prior to joining Allegheny, he was President of Florida Power & Light Company, the principal subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc., and was a director of FPL Group from 1995 to 2003. He is a director of the Edison Electric Institute The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association of United States shareholder-owned electric power companies.
