Allegheny Energy Announces Proposed Settlement in West Virginia.

:AYE) announced today that it has reached agreement with a group of interested parties regarding the installation and financing of flue gas desulfurization Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) is the current state-of-the art technology used for removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the exhaust flue gases in power plants that burn coal or oil to produce steam for the steam turbines that drive their electricity generators.  equipment (scrubbers) at its Fort Martin, W.Va. power station.

Installing scrubbers at Fort Martin would allow Allegheny Energy to use more West Virginia coal and create more than 350 construction jobs.
