Allegheny Energy Achieves Investment Grade Credit Rating.

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE:AYE) today announced that Standard & Poor's has upgraded the company's corporate credit rating from BB+ to BBB-, marking Allegheny's return to investment grade status.

The corporate credit rating is a key indicator of financial health and stability. Investment grade companies generally have greater financial strength and less risk than lower-rated companies.

"Returning to investment grade status is a major milestone, underscoring how far we have come since 2003, when the company was near bankruptcy," said Paul J. Evanson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allegheny Energy. "I am deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, whose contributions are so important to our success."
