Allegheny Energy Achieves Investment Grade Credit Rating from Moody's.

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE:AYE) announced that Moody's Investors Service has upgraded the company's corporate family rating to investment grade, increasing the credit rating from Ba2 to Baa3. The corporate family rating is a key indicator of financial health and stability.

The upgrade is the second from a major credit rating agency this year. Standard & Poor's returned Allegheny's corporate credit rating to investment grade in May. Investment grade companies generally have greater financial strength and less risk than lower-rated companies.

"The upgrade from Moody's is further confirmation that our financial turnaround is complete," said Paul J. Evanson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allegheny Energy. "Both major credit rating agencies now rate us investment grade. I am grateful to our dedicated employees for their contributions in achieving this significant milestone."
