Allegheny Energy's Pennsylvania Operations Receive Safety Award.

:AYE) has received special recognition from the Energy Association of Pennsylvania for an exceptional improvement in worker safety.

Employees of Allegheny's electric delivery company, Allegheny Power, were honored with a 2006 Safety Improvement Award during a ceremony held at the company's corporate headquarters earlier today. The award recognizes Pennsylvania companies The Pennsylvania Company was a major holding company, owning and operating much of the Lines West territory (west of Pittsburgh and Erie, Pennsylvania) of the Pennsylvania Railroad, including the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railway, the PRR's main route to Chicago.  that report an "exceptional reduction in incident rate" from the previous year.

Approximately 1,200 employees - including lineworkers, electricians, meter readers and office workers - contributed to the company's outstanding safety record. Between 2004 and 2005, Allegheny Power reduced its incident rate by nearly 50 percent.
