Allegheny County Man to Attend PA 500 With Chance to Win $20,000 From Lottery.

The Pennsylvania Lottery The Pennsylvania Lottery is the state lottery of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was created by the Pennsylvania Legislature on August 26, 1971 and that October, Henry Kaplan was appointed as its first Executive Director. The Lottery premiered on March 7, 1972.  is sending Thomas Teague, 67, of Verona, to the Pennsylvania 500 Winston Cup race July 25 - 29, 2002.

Mr. Teague is one of five finalists drawn in the Pennsylvania Lottery's CASH 5 / POCONO RACEWAY Pocono Raceway (formerly Pocono International Raceway) is a superspeedway located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania at Long Pond. It is the site of two annual NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races held just weeks apart in June and August.  WEEKEND Contest.

The five finalists were selected from entry tickets generated when players purchased a $5 block of CASH 5 tickets for the next available drawing and submitted those entry tickets into a random drawing.

The five finalists are invited to attend the Pennsylvania 500 Winston Cup race weekend at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond Long Pond may refer to:

Each of the five finalists will receive $5,000 and a raceway accommodations package for two that includes raceway tickets, superbox seating and pit passes for three days of NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla. (R) events held at Pocono Raceway; track tour; three-day, four-night hotel accommodations; transportation between the track and hotel; meals and beverages.

There will be a Grand Prize event during the Pennsylvania 500 pre-race ceremonies. The Grand Prize winner will be announced at the finish line at the track and will win an additional $15,000, bringing the Grand Prize winner's total to $20,000 - less 27 percent federal withholding.

Mr. Teague is a regular CASH 5 player, and he estimates that he sent in about 25 Pocono Raceway Weekend Contest entries. When asked if he ever thought he might be selected as a grand prize finalist, Mr. Teague said, "I'm really happy, but very surprised."

 one day, when his fiancee, Deborah, met him at the door, told him that someone from the Lottery had left a message on the answering machine for him, and eagerly asked him what kind of contest he had entered. "She was more excited than I was!" remembers Mr. Teague.

Mr. Teague says that he and his fiancee "will become die-hard NASCAR fans now!" The two of them are excited to spend the weekend at the raceway, and they plan to use the $5,000 prize to fund a trip west to California and Reno, Nevada.

The other four Pennsylvania 500 Race Weekend finalists are Angelo Paduano of Philadelphia; Dave Hackman of Saylorsburg, Monroe County; Ralph Salyards of Hollidaysburg, Blair County, and Bruce Nickel of Folsom, Delaware County.
