Tom Foden of Chester is at stand off along with Lancashire's Jason Duffy, Freeman Payne and Neil Kerfoot in an exciting back division which also includes former Manchester winger Mick Leach Michael 'Mick' Leach (born Hackney, London January 16 1947, died 1992) was a footballer with QPR in the 1960s and 1970s.

There will be an opportunity for a number of Birkenhead Park players to shine with forwards Gareth Jones, Jon Feldman, Joe Pollard and Jamie Johnstone included in the AA's squad.

The Gogledd Cymru team contains players from 12 North Wales clubs as well as a number of Englishbased players.

Meanwhile the Park first XV squad face another frustrating week of inactivity - but only if scheduled opponents Sheffield Tigers manage to win their delayed Intermediate Cup tie at Walsall which was due to be played last night.

If Tigers win then they will play their next cup tie on Saturday against Middlesbrough but if they lose they will travel to the Upper Park for an important North 1 clash. Coach Shaun Gallagher said: "For the second successive week we don't know if we will have a game or not on Saturday, it is a very unsatisfactory situation and could mean we go five weeks without a game.

"I don't know how the RFU think we can prepare for a match with only two or three days' notice particularly when things like programmes, sponsorship and corporate hospitality come into play.

"The loss of revenue will be significant particularly on top of the festive break."

If the match against Tigers does take place kick off will be at 2.15pm.

Next game: Birkenhead Park v Sheffield Tigers, North 1, Saturday 2.15pm,
