Attachmate Corporation, 20-year veterans of connecting users with critical enterprise data and longtime strategic partner of Unisys(R) Corporation (NYSE NYSE

Attachmate DATABridge provides businesses with a comprehensive ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) The functions performed when pulling data out of one database and placing it into another of a different type. ETL is used to migrate data, often from relational databases into decision support systems.  (extract, transform, load ETL also means Express Toll Lanes, see Express Toll Lanes.

Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) is a process in data warehousing that involves
  • extracting data from outside sources,
) solution for securely integrating Unisys MCP DMSII and non-DMSII data to a secondary system. DATABridge replicates data in seconds -- extraction and replication are direct and in real-time -- without the lag times of other products on the market. No additional files are created, so there is no increase in back-end overhead.

With DATABridge, production data can be integrated with a relational database relational database

Database in which all data are represented in tabular form. The description of a particular entity is provided by the set of its attribute values, stored as one row or record of the table, called a tuple.
, such as Oracle(R), Microsoft(R) SQL Server An earlier relational DBMS from Sybase and from Microsoft. Sybase introduced SQL Server in 1988 for various Unix versions. In that same year, with help from IBM, Sybase created an OS/2 version that Microsoft licensed and branded as Microsoft SQL Server. , or other DMSII database located on a different Unisys host. Unlike other solutions that support ETL technology via separate modules, DATABridge is an all-in-one solution. It allows extraction, transformation, and loading to take place simultaneously, without the need for additional utilities. DATABridge makes information easily accessible for the purpose of processing and analyzing for business intelligence (BI) -- while also conserving host resources.

"Very few replication products can work as well in high-use environments. Customers get the speed they need, with minimal use of host resources, so it is very cost-effective," said developer Joe Joseph, president of Joe Joseph & Associates Inc., which specializes in Data Management and Co-operative Distributed processing. "Once customers install and use DATABridge, they discover all of the things they can do -- how cost-effective DATABridge is on the resource side, how easy it is to install, and how fast it replicates data," Joseph continued. "In high-volume environments, no other tool can take on this level of tasks and perform as well."

Empowers database administrators for better analysis

DATABridge provides granular filtering, both at the data source and the data target, which gives administrators complete control over what is being extracted. "DATABridge empowers decision makers with the tools and information they require to improve business agility," said Markus Nitschke, vice president, corporate marketing, for Attachmate. "Database administrators can determine where information is sent and in what formats, so they can control data more securely while delivering data the way users want."

DATABridge Enterprise Server conserves resources while increasing efficiency

New in this release is DATABridge Enterprise Server (DBE DBE

), which conserves mainframe resources by offloading current host processing to a Windows(R) Server. "With the implementation of DATABridge Enterprise Server, data cloning and update speeds are significantly faster, which is important in high-use environments," said Nitschke. DATABridge Enterprise Server resides between DATABridge Host and clients, performing all host-related processing before sending data onto client systems. DBE also provides a graphical interface for viewing various sources and database layouts. More information on the new release is at http://www.attachmate.com/databridge.
