MORE than 1,600 Irish soldiers who were killed in the Second World War finally had their stories told in a new research project unveiled yesterday. The forgotten fallen contained in the 9,100-strong Roll of Honour roll of honour Noun a list of those who have died in war for their country is on display at Stormont. The names emerged after relations contacted Scottish academic Yvonne McEwen. She said many victims were never noted as they were from the Republic or were Northern nationalists. She added: "Although they're buried in all corners in the world, in Ireland these are their final resting place with recognition." |
