The Contra Costa Earth Day Festival also celebrates the 31st anniversary of Earth Day, which is officially held each year on April 22. Green Power Zone and the Electric Auto Show An auto show, or motor show, is a public exhibition of current automobile models, debuts, concept cars, or out-of-production classics. It is commonly attended by automobile manufacturers. Most auto shows occur once or twice a year. Contra Costa's festival is the largest in Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The festival will host over 100 environmental groups, crafts, eco-friendly food, and youth activities for all ages. This year's festival highlights will include the Star Gazing Tent, the San Francisco State University • • [ Bug Exhibit, and the Nature Photography Tent. Recycle Those Unwanted Small Appliances and Computers Valley Waste Management and Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority are joining forces to recycle small appliances and computers at the festival. Participants can bring their unwanted items to the festival, and they can learn about disposal options and enter to win prizes. No televisions or computer monitors will be accepted. Directions to the Festival The Chronicle Pavilion in Concord is located at 2000 Kirker Pass Road., in Concord, Calif. The festival and concert are free. Parking at the Chronicle Pavilion is $8. Carpooling is encouraged. Free valet bike parking is available.
