Meyers received the organization's "Equal Opportunity in Housing Award" at a Gala Dinner Dance held at Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook.

Under Meyers' leadership, Houlihan/Lawrence has worked cooperatively with WRO to train its agents in both the letter and spirit of anti-discrimination laws Anti-discrimination law refers to the law on people's right to be treated equally. Most developed countries mandate that in employment, in consumer transactions and in political participation people may be dealt with on an equal basis regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, . Houlihan/Lawrence agents confer on a regular basis with WRO's fair housing director, and through paid advertising, the company informs the general public of their responsibilities under fair housing laws.

Special guest Ossie Davis, star of stage and screen, joined elected officials, members of the real estate community and housing advocates for the event.

In addition to Meyers, Paul Redd, who is completing 30 years as publisher of the Westchester County Press, received a Harriet D. Goldberg Fair Housing Award for outstanding volunteer service in the field of anti-discrimination. The Westchester County Press is the only African-American-owned newspaper in Westchester.

Alan R. Wolfert, associate general counsel for real estate services at IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Corporation, also received a Goldberg Award.
