In his earlier Somebodies and Nobodies: Overcoming the Abuse of Rank (2003), Fuller (former president, Oberlin College Oberlin College, at Oberlin, Ohio; coeducational; opened 1833 as Oberlin Collegiate Institute, became Oberlin College in 1850. It includes a college of arts and sciences and a well-known conservatory of music. ) described the social problem of "rankism," a form of abuse of rank analogous analogous /anal·o·gous/ (ah-nal´ah-gus) resembling or similar in some respects, as in function or appearance, but not in origin or development.
