All Tomorrow's Parties (Warp Films).

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]

All Tomorrow's Parties, a documentary about the festival directed by Jonathan Caouette, splices hundreds of fan-shot clips with Caouette's footage of the bands onstage. Unlike other videos in the fan bricolage genre, like the Beastie Boys' Awesome; I Fuckin Shot That! or Olivier Gondry's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" video from Daft Punk's Alive 2007, this film has a strange, intimate and personal summer camp vibe. Daniel Johnston playing sheet music for 20 people outside his hotel window cuts to some girl falling off a nearby balcony followed by shots of someone's feet going down a waterslide. That's how I wish I remembered the last ten festivals I went to.
