Here is a synopsis of why these stocks are on the All Star Analysts Portfolio:

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) is engaged in the purchase, distribution, and sale of men's, women's and kids' casual apparel. The company posted fourth quarter earnings of 93 cents per share Cents per share

The amount a seller receives from the buyer after costs associated with the sale are deducted.

Notes:
This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight
of $534.5 million, which marked increases of +19% and +15% respectively from the year-ago period. Analysts were impressed that these record results came in a quarter that was quite difficult for the retail sector. The company reported net sales of $100.0 million for the four-week period ended March 1, 2003, a +12% increase over last year's February sales of $89.0 million. Although comparable sales were down 4%, the company managed to survive poor winter weather, lower consumer confidence and a late Easter, quite well. It looks like retailers might be heading higher and several All Star analysts are recommending ANF.

Dell Computer Corp. (NASDAQ:DELL) is a leading computer manufacturer. Last week, DELL reported the creation of Dell Financial Services The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.

Analysts believe that the global reach of Dell and CIT allows DFS (Distributed File System) An enhancement to Windows NT/2000 and 95/98 that allows files scattered across multiple servers to be treated as a single group. With Dfs, a network administrator can build a hierarchical file system that spans the organization's LANs and  to directly integrate their services with the needs and demands of Dell customers. On April 2, Dell reaffirmed its fiscal first-quarter guidance initially provided on Feb. 13: unit volumes up more than +25% from one year ago; revenue +18% higher, to $9.5 billion; and an increase in earnings per share of 35%, to 23 cents per share. The company said that they are seeing double-digit year-over-year revenue growth in all regional markets and customer segments. These impressive numbers in a very tough environment make DELL a top pick for several All Star analysts. This might be a great time to pick up some DELL.

Biovail Corporation (NYSE:BVF) is a full-service pharmaceutical company that applies its proprietary drug delivery technologies in developing "oral controlled-release" products throughout North America. Recently, BVF reported record financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2002. Total revenues for the fourth quarter of 2002 increased +34% to $238.7 million, compared to $178.3 million reported for the fourth quarter of 2001. Total revenues for the year ended December 31, 2002 were $788.0 million reflecting an increase of $204.7 million or 35% over the year ended December 31, 2001 sales of $583.3 million. These favorable results were primarily driven by a significant increase in product sales revenues through Biovail's expanded U.S. sales and marketing organization, positive results from the U.S. Tiazac franchise, strong growth from BVF's Canadian sales and marketing group. It's no wonder so many All Star analysts are prescribing BVF for investors looking for Looking for

Golden West Financial Corporation (NYSE:GDW) is the nation's second largest savings institution with assets over $69 billion as of Jan. 31, 2003. Currently operating 470 savings and lending offices in 38 states under the World name, the Company has one of the most extensive thrift branch systems in the country. Diluted per share profits in the fourth quarter of 2002 reached $1.60, an +11% increase from the $1.44 recorded a year earlier. The company has been on the rise since last October and in March was the nation's most admired mortgage services company, as reported in the March 3, 2003 issue of FORTUNE magazine.
