All ON Semiconductor Fab Sites Achieve Environmental Standard; Company's Manufacturing Sites Certified ISO14001.

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2003

ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) today announced that all eight of its internal manufacturing sites have successfully met the requirements for the ISO (1) See ISO speed.

(2) (International Organization for Standardization, Geneva, Switzerland, www.iso.ch) An organization that sets international standards, founded in 1946. The U.S. member body is ANSI.
14001 standard -- a certification that outlines the framework for the environmental risk management needs and goals of an organization.

This certification provides ON Semiconductor with a competitive advantage as it uses its flexible manufacturing network to meet the needs of customers around the world.

The automotive industry The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 69 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide.  adopted ISO 14001 and requires its suppliers to meet these standards as part of its commitment to manage and mitigate potential environmental hazards involved with various manufacturing processes.

ISO 14001 provides a formal structure for environmental management. The requirements of ISO 14001 cover the main principles of professional management and are based on the cyclical process of plan, implement, check and review. The standard outlines 21 specific requirements for areas of management control, grouped under policy, planning, implementation and operation, checking and corrective action A corrective action is a change implemented to address a weakness identified in a management system. Normally corrective actions are instigated in response to a customer complaint, abnormal levels if internal nonconformity, nonconformities identified during an internal audit or  and management review. The intent of ISO 14001 is to support environmental protection and prevention of pollution.
