All Millennium Hotels in North America to Install Teledex ExpressNet; Combined Wired and Wireless HSIA for Guestrooms, Plus Public Areas.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2004

Teledex, the leading worldwide provider of guestroom telecommunications equipment for the hospitality industry, and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, owner and operator of four-star deluxe properties situated in premier locations worldwide, announced today that all Millennium properties in North America -- fourteen landmark properties -- will install Teledex ExpressNet(TM) high-speed Internet access. The agreement calls for wired access in over 2,000 guestrooms, as well as wireless access in lobby and restaurant areas for all properties.

Teledex ExpressNet high-speed Internet solutions continue to gain wide acceptance in the marketplace, with major installations in prominent hotels worldwide. The Millennium North American hotels represent some of the most renowned properties in the country, including the Millennium Knickerbocker in Chicago. This stylish luxury hotel features 305 tastefully appointed guestrooms and 18,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space. Other well-known Millennium properties slated to install ExpressNet HSIA include the Millennium UN Plaza and Millennium Broadway in New York, the Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles, the Millennium Cincinnati, and all other Millennium hotels coast to coast.

Paul Underhill, President, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, the Americas, comments, "As we continue to strengthen the Millennium brand in North America, we find it imperative that we offer our guests the greatest range of amenities, and the ones they desire the most. Our commitment to the business traveler means that high-speed Internet access is a must, and we are excited to be deploying Teledex ExpressNet as our preferred solution. We particularly like the clean in-room installation, with the ExpressPort attached discreetly underneath the phone. Additionally, the ExpressNet WiFi wireless solution will also help us deliver what the guest wants, namely high-speed access virtually anywhere in the hotel. Kudos to Teledex for developing such a comprehensive plan for our properties."

Adds Ron Lesniak, Teledex President and CEO, "We recognize the enviable position that Millennium enjoys in the market; they own and operate some of the truly landmark properties in North America. We are thrilled that our proven technologies and cost-effective solutions have passed the rigorous Millennium test, and that they have chosen to bring ExpressNet to their properties. As the ExpressNet brand gains momentum worldwide, we are seeing more and more four- and five-star properties choosing Teledex for high speed. We're fortunate enough to enjoy the dominant position in this market segment in regards to our guestroom telephones, and it's gratifying to see that this segment of the market also prefers Teledex when it comes to high-speed Internet. I can't wait to stay in a Millennium and try it out."

More About ExpressNet

Teledex ExpressNet is an integrated, cost-effective solution for lodging properties of all types to deliver dependable high-speed Internet access. ExpressNet's wired solution provides convenient high-speed access for guestrooms via the patented ExpressPort adapter that attaches directly to the underside of Teledex guestroom telephones. Requiring no recabling, ExpressNet uses existing phone wiring to deliver Internet access that is at least twenty (20) times faster than standard 56k dialup. Many properties prefer offering wired high-speed access in guestrooms for several key reasons, including consistent quality of service room-to-room versus wireless; easier guest setup and launch; and universal accessibility, due to the fact that the great majority of travelers do not carry wireless-equipped laptops.

Wireless access remains the preferred solution for public spaces and meeting rooms, and ExpressNet WiFi serves that segment of the market with industrial grade 802.11 wireless access points, and comprehensive network management software solutions. By deploying a mix of wired and wireless ExpressNet solutions across a property, hoteliers are ensured of providing the highest quality of service and maximum coverage area at the lowest total cost.
