On October 6, 1998, Epic Records Epic Records is an American record label, owned and operated by Sony BMG. Electric Light Orchestra, Ozzy Osbourne, Sade, Luther Vandross, Gloria Estefan, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, and Duran Duran paved the way for Epic's multiplatinum 1980s and 1990s successes.  and VH1 proudly present VH1 Divas In 1998, VH1 debuted the first annual VH1 Divas concert. The first concert, VH1 Divas Live was created to support the station's "Save The Music Foundation", and subsequent concerts in the series have also benefitted that foundation.  Live. By popular demand, here are the album and home video versions of the music network's unprecedented, one-of-a-kind concert starring Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey, which was broadcast live on VH1 from New York's Beacon Beacon, city (1990 pop. 13,243), Dutchess co., SE N.Y., on the E bank of the Hudson River; settled 1663, inc. in 1913 when Fishkill Landing and Matteawan villages were united.  Theater on April 14, 1998. Shania Twain offers "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "You're Still The One," then Mariah returns to duet with Aretha Franklin on the Queen of Soul's classic "Chain of Fools." VH1 will exclusively offer the VH1 Divas Live album for direct sale via direct response between September 19 and the official retail street date of October 6. Epic labels around the world will use premieres of the concert in each territory to launch sales of the CD and home video. The "VH1 Divas Live" concert was a benefit for "VH1 Save The Music," a pro-social initiative dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring and supporting music programs in cities across the country. "VH1 Save The Music" was launched in January, 1997. Since then, VH1 and its affiliate partners have contributed over $11.5 million in total support and $3 million in instruments to the national initiative. A significant portion of the proceeds from sales of the VH1 Divas Live album will be donated to "VH1 Save The Music" by Epic Records, which has also made a $250,000 advance contribution to the initiative.

To help celebrate the release of VH1 Divas Live, VH1 also will air special programming featuring the five Divas themselves on September 19 and October 6. The one-hour version of "VH1 Divas Live" will also air on September 21 at 11 a.m., on September 23 at 5 p.m., and on October 4 at 8 p.m. immediately preceding the premiere of "Shania Twain: Behind The Music."
