Sony Online Entertainment Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) is a game development and game publishing division of Sony that is best known for creating massively multiplayer online games, including EverQuest, EverQuest II, PlanetSide, and Star Wars Galaxies  announced today that EverQuest(R): The Scars of Velious(TM) will be available at retail stores tomorrow.

Velious provides the 300,000 plus current EverQuest gamers with an all-new frozen continent, 19 all-new adventure zones, numerous new creatures, additional spells and weapons and enhanced 3D game graphics engine.

EverQuest: The Scars of Velious takes players on a mystical quest to the ice continent of Velious. Once there, players will face all-new challenges and rewards in their quest for dominance and survival. The new frozen continent, Velious, is located south of Antonica, and its 19 new zones include ice caves, crystal caverns, crypts, dungeons and frozen towers. The expansion pack features visually stunning non-player characters including frost giants, ice dragons, snow orcs, cave bears, Snowfang gnolls, storm giants and vicious ottermen. The highly-detailed world features three times the amount of polygons and larger textures than the current EverQuest world.

"The EverQuest fans will embark on a series of new adventures and come face-to-face with new creatures and don new graphically enhanced player armor."

EverQuest: The Scars of Velious is the first expansion pack that requires a separate purchase of "EverQuest." Players will need to purchase a prior version of the game in order to experience Velious, and it is recommended that they have advanced characters in the level 35 or higher range to board ships to the new continent.

During peak periods, EverQuest adventurers and dragon slayers can form alliances with up to 70,000 other players simultaneously. The active global EverQuest subscriber base is comprised of players from various countries throughout the "real" world, including the U.S., England, Canada, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, France and New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. .

The Scars of Velious box cover features newly created art by famous fantasy artist Keith Parkinson and will have an SRP SRP - A data link layer protocol.  of $19.95.
