American segment of the nation's most lauded generation. She
writes, "Growing up in a world of segregation and racism created
attitudinal nuances that are not always present among white Boomers.
Indeed, blacks believe that discrimination still plagues society
today." Wellner cites a recent survey that found that nearly six in
10 blacks said, on the whole, they had "worse jobs, income, and
housing due to racial discrimination."
