Alisa Miller to Head Public Radio International(R); Technologically Savvy, Partnership Oriented Choice Expected to Lead Organization Through Period of Substantial Change.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Public Radio International (PRI) announces Alisa Miller as PRI's new president and CEO. Her appointment follows a rigorous search conducted by a committee of the PRI Board led by Director Lawrence Wilkinson with the assistance of national search organization Russell Reynolds. Miller had previously served as senior vice president of the PRI Content Group.

Board Chairman Douglas Carlston said, "The Board was thorough and deliberate in its search. We wanted to identify the person who would lead PRI in serving the next generation of public radio listeners while building on the current strengths of PRI and the industry as a whole. Alisa combines an entrepreneurial approach, technological savvy, and partnership skills with a strong commitment to public broadcasting. After a number of months spent reviewing some exceptional candidates, it was clear that she was the person to take PRI to new levels of leadership and innovation."

Laura Walker, president and CEO of WNYC, New York Public Radio(R), and member of the PRI Board's search committee, added, "Alisa's fresh approach and energy have resulted in some of PRI's most ambitious initiatives, and we're delighted to see her take the helm. Alisa Miller became senior vice president and head of PRI Content in 2004, overseeing the development, acquisition, and production of PRI content and creating new partnerships for PRI. She helped create American Public Radio LLC, a partnership of PRI, Chicago Public Radio(R), WGBH Radio Boston, and New York Public Radio(R), that manages the operation of three 24/7 streams of content for satellite broadcast. She has also served on several public radio boards and has represented PRI on key industry panels. She joined PRI in 2001 as senior vice president and director of PRI Channels, developing new distribution and business opportunities and working closely with PRI's subsidiary, Public Interactive(R), public broadcasting's leading Web services provider.

Prior to joining PRI, Miller developed and managed strategic relationships at Sesame Workshop (formerly Children's Television Workshop). She served as assistant vice president of strategic alliances and as director of business development and strategy for Sesamestreet.com.

After graduating with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism, Miller worked as a White House intern and then joined the Washington-based consulting firm DFI International, where she helped develop a satellite industry forecasting practice. She earned an MBA and MPP from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business and the Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy. She lives in greater Minneapolis.
