Alion wins $1.4M IT Services Sub-contract; Technology Solutions Firm to Provide Database and Software Expertise to DoD's Joint Spectrum Center.

MCLEAN, Va. -- Alion Science and Technology today announced that it has been awarded a sub-contract to provide information technology services to the DoD's Joint Spectrum Center (JSC). The prime contractor for this contract is Pragmatics, Inc., of McLean, VA. The sub-contract is valued at approximately $1.4 million with a one year period of performance.

Under this sub-contract, Alion will provide maintenance of the Joint Spectrum Center (JSC) databases, which support the DoD's wireless spectrum management operations worldwide. Alion will also provide a range of information assurance and network operations support services for the JSC.

The sub-contract supports a task order under the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Next Generation Engineering (NexGen) contract. The NexGen contract was awarded on April 22, 2005. Alion's work under the sub-contract commenced on June 17, 2005.

Alion has provided similar services to the JSC under a different contract for many years. Under the NexGen contract, Alion's technical experts will continue to maintain the JSC's spectrum management databases, which are crucial to effective assignment and management of wireless frequencies for military, civilian and commercial voice and data systems, including military field radios, data telemetry and broadcast networks. Alion will also support a number of software applications, including many that were developed by Alion engineers.

To protect the integrity of the JSC's data and systems, Alion will provide comprehensive information assurance support. Alion's technical experts have significant experience in information security strategies and technologies. Alion will also provide support for the JSC's networks, to ensure reliable operations of their critical systems.
