Alion to Provide Software Development and Lifecycle Support to Maintain Army's Network Planning Terminal.

Technology Solutions Company Earns Subcontract to Assist System Migration Toward Net-Centric Operations

MCLEAN, Va. -- Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions provider, has been awarded a subcontract to provide engineering and technical services to the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. in support of the Network Planning Terminal (NPT). The total value of the task order is in excess of $38 million, with Alion awarded nearly $9 million over three years. The team is led by Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems, Inc., Belmar, N.J.

The NPT, which was developed by Alion, provides tools for network planning, engineering, and battlefield spectrum management to the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and Allied Forces worldwide. The system supports global exercises and ongoing military operations.

During the three-year contract, Alion will continue to provide software engineering development services to address issues that include limited spectrum resources and interference. Alion will also supply lifecycle software support for Mission Critical Defense Systems as well as help transition programs into Web-based applications.

The period of performance runs through March 18, 2012. The Tactical Communications Systems Software task order is under the Strategic Services Sourcing (S3) contract vehicle.
