Alion Partners with George Mason University in Modeling and Simulation and DoD Acquisition Course Instruction; Technology solutions firm completes initial classes, in Certificate program, providing students with specialized training and CEUs.


MCLEAN, Va. -- Alion Science and Technology Alion Science and Technology (pronounced: ah-LYE-un) is an employee-owned technology solutions company delivering technical expertise and operational support to the Department of Defense, civilian government agencies and commercial customers. , in partnership with George Mason University Named after American revolutionary, patriot and founding father George Mason, the university was founded as a branch of the University of Virginia in 1957 and became an independent institution in 1972. , has completed their first course of instruction in the Modeling Simulation and DoD Acquisition Certificate Program.

The initial participants in the three day course, "Foundations of DoD Modeling and Simulation," which began February 14, came from a variety of Defense Agencies and private companies. In the course, students covered the foundations of Military Modeling and Simulation and will receive Continuing Education Units continuing education unit (CEU),
n educational classes or experiences for licensed dental professionals that extend, update, or renew their knowledge of practices in their field. Some classes may be required for relicensing.
 and Continuing Learning Points for this instruction, which meet the recommended annual guidelines for government employees. As part of the Acquisition Certificate Program, students are required to complete six days of course study comprised of a three day course and three one day courses.

"The course is appropriate for a wide range of students, including rising managers of government M&S programs and acquisition personnel looking to expand their knowledge base," said Phil Abold, Alion Senior Vice President, "Additionally, those involved in government contracting, or those looking to get involved, will benefit from a better understanding of the DoD perspective and the concepts presented in this first-of-its-kind course."

This initiative is the work of Modeling and Simulation University(R), operated by Alion Science and Technology in partnership with George Mason University's Office of Continuing Professional Education. The next three day course of study is scheduled to start April 18 at the George Mason University Herndon, VA campus. The first one day course of study, entitled en·ti·tle
