MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Alien Technology Alien Technology is a manufacturer of RFID technology. The company is headquartered in Morgan Hill, California, with an RFID tag manufacturing facility in Fargo, North Dakota, the Alien RFID Solutions Center, in the Dayton, Ohio area, and sales offices in the US, Europe and Asia.  Corporation today introduced its ALX-9010 Series of Portal Appliances, an easy-to-install, all-inclusive dock-door solution for UHF (Ultra High Frequency) The range of electromagnetic frequencies from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. In the U.S., analog television has used UHF channels 52 to 69 in the 700 MHz band.  RFID (Radio Frequency Identification See RFID. ) implementations. Featuring sleek, low-profile, ruggedized frames, the ALX-9010 family leverages the market-leading Alien ALR-9800 Gen2 RFID reader A transmitter/receiver that reads the contents of RFID tags in the vicinity. Also called an "RFID interrogator." The maximum distance between the reader's antenna and the tag vary, depending on application.  and up to four high-gain antennas per unit to deliver high read rates, easy deployment and exceptional maintainability in demanding dock-door environments.

"Implementation costs typically make up the largest portion of RFID deployment efforts. The ALX-9010 Series provides an easy, cost-effective, plug and play solution for dock-door locations - you bolt it in, plug it in, and go," said Scot Stelter, Director, Strategic Marketing, Alien Technology. "Whether you are looking at provisioning a handful of portals or standardizing on a solution for several hundred, the ALX-9010 family lets you manage your rollout and on-going service costs while enabling scalable, uniform deployment of state-of-the-art RFID capabilities."

ALX-9010 portal appliances are constructed around a sturdy, unibody, steel chassis that encloses and protects all RFID electronics and accessories. With everything enclosed within the chassis, there is no need to route coax cable outside the cabinet, nor is there a need to open the cabinet at installation - unobstructed access to power, LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and all other connections is available through a panel at the top of the unit, enabling fast, easy installation.

ALX-9010 portal appliances are built around the Alien ALR-9800 Gen2 Enterprise RFID reader, with its enterprise-scalable architecture, high performance Gen 2 capability, and superior dense reader management. The ALR-9800 reader is supported by leading RFID software solutions and EPC (1) (Entertainment PC) See HTPC.

certified for Dense Reader Mode, meaning that high read rates are ensured even when large numbers of other readers are operating in proximity.

The ALX-9010 Series encompasses four models including low-profile single-sided (two antennas), wall-mounted, and double-sided (four antennas) models, and an extended height single-sided model. Each model features an audible horn, circularly polarized A one-way direction of a signal or the molecules within a material pointing in one direction.  antennas, and mounting hardware for such options as a light stack, electronic eye presence detector, and wireless LAN communications.
