Alien Technology(R) Expands RFID Leadership with Two Additions to Its Squiggle(R) Portfolio of EPC Gen 2 Tags.

RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna.  Innovator Introduces Squiggle-SQ Item-level and Squiggle-SH Case Tags Powered by the Industry Leading Alien H2 RFID Chip

MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Alien Technology Alien Technology is a manufacturer of RFID technology. The company is headquartered in Morgan Hill, California, with an RFID tag manufacturing facility in Fargo, North Dakota, the Alien RFID Solutions Center, in the Dayton, Ohio area, and sales offices in the US, Europe and Asia. , an industry leader in Radio Frequency Identification See RFID.  (RFID) products and services, today announced the expansion of its leading portfolio of Alien Squiggle See tilde.  EPC (1) (Entertainment PC) See HTPC.

Gen 2 RFID tags with the introduction of two new form factors for case and item-level tracking in the consumer packaged goods, retail, transportation, government and defense industries. Together, the new tags represent the maturation of the market, with smaller, higher performance tags enabling more sophisticated tagging and broader implementation.

"With the enhanced portfolio of Squiggle tags, Alien[R] has a robust variety of new high-performance inlays and tags, powered by our industry-leading Alien H2 chip," said Mike Hetrick, Alien's product director of global consumables. "The new item-level and case tag form factors have received great interest from our converters and we are excited about the opportunities for our growing portfolio of Squiggle tags powered by the industry leading Alien H2 chip."

Squiggle-SQ

The newest member of the Alien family, the diminutive Squiggle-SQ (ALN-9529), delivers exceptional range in the item-tagging arena despite being the size of a postage stamp. Due to its unique combination of size and performance, the tag is ideal for use in the pharmaceutical segment as well as other high-value, item-level applications. Tuned to operate optimally in the 902 to 928 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  frequency range, the Squiggle-SQ will be available for sampling in October with volume production in December.

Squiggle-SH

Delivering the same outstanding range and sensitivity of its namesake, the Squiggle-SH is designed to meet the global supply chain's requirement for an inlay inlay /in·lay/ (-la) material laid into a defect in tissue; in dentistry, a filling made outside the tooth to correspond with the cavity form and then cemented into the tooth.

Alien's portfolio of tags also includes:

Alien Squiggle[R]

The Squiggle (ALN-9540), the most versatile member of Alien's family, delivers industry leading range, reliability and price for a broad range of traditional pallet and case uses as well as innovative new RFID applications. The Squiggle tag outperforms other tags in leading benchmark studies, including the recent EECC EECC European EPC Competence Center
EECC Energy Efficient Codes Coalition
EECC Experiment Exposure Control Canister (NASA)
EECC Easy Energy Companies & Consulting SA
EECC Extraordinary Electrical Circuit Change
 UHF Tag Performance Survey.

Alien 2x2

The 2x2 (ALN-9534) is a compact inlay that offers exceptional omni-directional performance and is well suited for tagging apparel and baggage. Measuring 47mm x 42mm, the tag is designed to fit in small labels and tags and delivers superior performance in the 860 to 960 MHz range.

Alien M-Tag

The M-Tag (ALN-9554) provides a high-performance solution for tagging plastics such as tote bins and pallets. A larger tag at 94mm x 42mm, the M-Tag delivers the extra sensitivity needed in difficult tagging situations throughout the world.

All inlays and tags are based on Alien H2 UHF (Ultra High Frequency) The range of electromagnetic frequencies from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. In the U.S., analog television has used UHF channels 52 to 69 in the 700 MHz band.  RFID IC, a breakthrough design for performance which delivers superior sensitivity and range at the lowest per die cost in the industry. All members of the tag family are manufactured using Alien's patented Fluidic flu·id·ic

[TM]) process, which delivers high inlay volumes at low unit costs. Alien tags are designed to deliver uniform global operation within the worldwide RFID frequency spectrum of 860 to 960 MHz. This enables the same tag to be used with the unique RFID frequencies of the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Alien tags allow companies to manufacture products on one continent and ship them virtually worldwide utilizing a single RFID tag type for uniform behavior and consistent performance globally.

Alien's portfolio of RFID readers and tags are supported through Alien Technology's global network of over 200 authorized distributors, Value Added Resellers (VAR), independent software vendors (ISV (Independent Software Vendor) A person or company that develops software. It implies an organization that specializes in software only and is not part of a computer systems or hardware manufacturer. ), converters and Alliance partners. Alien readers and tag products have earned designation as Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act of 2002 for airports baggage and cargo handling systems.
