Algotec Debuts Advanced Web-Based PACS Tools, 3D Post-Processing at RSNA; Information Integration Drives Workflow and Innovation.

Algotec, the innovative PACS and radiology image management company, introduces a range of products and upgrades that integrate data across a full range of hospital IT systems and significantly streamline workflow at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

From order origination and imaging to final results, Algotec's ImagiNet family of products ensures seamless data and image management, while delivering the appropriate tools and information to the right users at the right time.

This year at RSNA, the company will showcase enhancements to MediPrime, its 3D radiology reading station. MediPrime automates sophisticated functions such as multi-planar reformatted views of CT studies and instantaneous displays of MR and CT angiography in maximum intensity projection (MIP) mode. The new workstation includes a separate dedicated screen for integrated RIS and voice recognition that can also be used for a quick view of entire patient files while reviewing current studies on the main image screens. Relevant prior studies may then be pulled on to the image screen for review and comparison.

Among the enhanced products demonstrated will be Algotec's MediSurf Web-based image viewer, which can now be used as a primary diagnostic workstation. The enhanced software-based product can retrieve entire patient files without accessing a RIS by searching archives for relevant patient information. Supporting up to two high-resolution displays, new MediSurf offers the most cost-effective primary reading platform for small facilities and for remote reading.

Med-e-Mail, Algotec's image distribution solution for referring physicians, will also be presented in a new multifunctional version. The program automatically combines radiology reports with thumbnails of key images into a Web-enabled radiology "e-report." Now, in addition to communicating by email, the software provides a complete range of distribution tools--CD recording, faxing, uploading to a website and hard-copy printing. If uploaded to a hospital website, files may then be downloaded to a doctor's computer or PDA.

Another new product is CD-Surf Lite, a desktop archiving solution geared for smaller practices. It allows recording of entire studies and illustrated reports on CDs with a single CD burner.

Also debuting are HIPAA-compliance features found in Algotec's MediStore storage and archive system. These include advanced access control, user authentication, central user management, audit trail and comprehensive data encryption.
