Algor and ITI Extend Partnership for Parasolid Import Capability.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. and MILFORD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1999--

Algor, Inc. and International TechneGroup Incorporated (ITI) today announced that Algor will now offer ITI's Parasolid import capability for more flexibility in data exchange between third-party CAD systems and Algor's line of finite element analysis Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation technique used in engineering analysis. It uses a numerical technique called the finite element method (FEM). There are many finite element software packages, both free and proprietary.  and Mechanical Event Simulation products. This agreement further solidifies the working relationship between the two organizations as Algor currently provides ITI's ACIS import capability to enable data interoperability between ACIS and non-ACIS-based software systems.

ITI's Parasolid import capability bridges the data interoperability gap between software systems based on Unigraphics Solutions' Parasolid kernel and those systems based on other geometry kernels. Engineers can use the import capability to quickly transfer CAD parts or assemblies to Algor from popular CAD systems. Alternatively, Algor's InCADPlus and InCAD DesignPak products work directly with CAD solid modelers, such as Mechanical Desktop, Pro\ENGINEER, Solid Edge and SolidWorks, to capture the exact CAD geometry in Algor without translation to a universal file format.

"As CAD models continue to take on a more extensive role throughout product development it is absolutely essential that practical and reliable methods of sharing this data keep pace," explained Don Hemmelgarn, Vice President and General Manager of ITI's Product Data Interoperability business. "Today CAD models are being created and, unfortunately, recreated at unprecedented levels," continued Hemmelgarn. "ITI looks forward to extending our partnership with Algor to provide engineers with proven interoperability solutions."

"The addition of ITI's Parasolid import capability to Algor's line of CAD/CAE CAD/CAE Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Engineering  interoperability tools adds a valuable option for mechanical engineers," said Michael L. Bussler, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Algor, Inc. "The swift and accurate transfer of CAD geometry using the Parasolid import capability will enable users to focus on the analysis of precise product representations using Algor's full line of FEA and Mechanical Event Simulation products."

The Parasolid import capability is available as a High Technology Extender to Algor's line of High Technology Core Packages. Please contact Algor at +1 (412) 967-2700 or visit www.algor.com for ordering and pricing information.

About Algor

Algor's most recent invention, FEA-based Accupak/VE Mechanical Event Simulation software with linear and nonlinear material models, replaces physical prototype testing with virtual prototype testing because it realistically simulates motion and flexing in mechanical events, eliminates the need to input dynamic loads and computes and shows resulting stresses on the computer model at each instant in time. Algor's new kinematic finite element technology now makes it practical to perform Mechanical Event Simulations with Accupak/VE on CAD solid models or assemblies. Algor offers a range of other FEA capabilities including linear stress, vibration and natural frequencies, heat transfer, electrostatics electrostatics, study of phenomena associated with charged bodies at rest (see charge; electricity). A charged body has an excess of positive or negative charges, a condition usually brought about by the transfer of electrons to or from the body. , fluid flow, piping design and composite materials.
