Algoma Steel Inc. announced today that its No. 7 Blast Furnace has been down for repairs since Thursday, October 28th. The repairs are a result of a mechanical failure of the furnace material charging equipment. The Blast Furnace is expected to resume operations on Thursday, November 4th. The No. 7 Blast Furnace is the Company's sole source of iron. As a result, the Company's steelmaking operations and the Direct Strip Production Complex have also been rendered inactive pending the resumption of Blast Furnace operations.
