Alfred L. Walters named vice president of Relay Technology's Terminal Emulation Division.


VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JUNE 11, 1997--Relay Technology, Inc., a leading vendor of Web-enabled host access and mobile intranet solutions for corporate client/server environments, is promoting Alfred L. Walters to Vice President, Terminal Emulation Using software in a desktop machine to make it perform like a hardware terminal. The emulated terminal is typically in the VT100-500 family, designed originally by Digital Equipment.  Division. Walters previously led direct sales efforts for the company's successful Relay/Gold(TM) host emulation product set. He now will be responsible for establishing and guiding Relay's Terminal Emulation Division, a newly created business unit that will capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

In 1995, he was promoted to Director of Sales and given responsibility for international and channel distribution. Walters came to Relay from RAXCO, Inc., where he served in management for seven years. He held earlier positions with Sears Business Systems Center and UCCEL. He is a graduate of Morgan University.

Mr. Walter's promotion coincides with the creation of two distinct business units within Relay Technology. In addition to the terminal emulation division now led by Mr. Walters, Relay is establishing a separate mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings  division.
