Alfa Laval Group Acquires Heat Exchanger Company in Germany.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Regulatory News:

Alfa Laval Group - a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling - has acquired HES GmbH Heat Exchanger Systems in Germany, a company with focus on spiral heat exchangers mainly to the process industry. The company had sales of about SEK 85 million in 2008 and some 45 employees and will be integrated into Tranter.

"With this acquisition we strengthen Tranter's product offering, especially their welded product portfolio," says Lars Renstrom, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. "Our multibrand strategy has been successful and Tranter continues to offer their own product range under the Tranter brand through their own distribution network." HES GmbH Heat Exchanger Systems will be consolidated in the Alfa Laval Group from February 1, 2009.

Did you know that a spiral heat exchanger is precisely what it says - a circular heat exchanger with two concentric spiral channels, one for each fluid? The increased turbulence in a spiral heat exchanger counter-acts clogging of the channels and reduces the need for cleaning. In fact, when replacing shell and tube heat exchangers in a refinery - it could mean reducing the need for cleaning from twice a week to once a year.
