Alexis Minerals Corporation: West Ansil Continues To Impress-Significant Massive Sulphides Intersected.

TORONTO -- Alexis Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:AMC) in joint venture with Noranda Inc. (TSX:NDR) is pleased to announce significant results from continued exploration in the area of the West Ansil Discovery where intersections of 3.57% copper (Cu) over 52.70 metres and 5.30% copper over 10.80 metres were previously reported in hole AN-05-04 (see Press Release: March 31, 2005). The West Ansil Zone is located 1.8 km to the southwest of the historic Ansil Mine in the heart of the Central Rouyn-Noranda Mining Camp, Quebec.

Highlights from the most recent drilling (Table 1) include massive sulphide intersections in two holes which grade:

- 2.69% Cu, 0.05% Zn over 18.1 metres in hole WAN-05-01 (gold and silver assays unavailable)

- including 5.42% Cu, 0.07% Zn over 3.4 metres

- 3.39% Cu, 0.12% Zn, 1.63 g/t Au over 5.0 metres in hole WAN-05-02 (silver assays unavailable). The upper contact of the intersection is dyked-out. Borehole geophysics suggests good up-dip potential above the dyke.

Two additional holes have also recently intersected massive sulphides. Samples are being submitted for analysis and results are expected within the following weeks:

- WAN-05-04 has intersected a minimum of 42.3 metres of massive sulphides from 401.7 to 444.0 metres. The hole is in progress at 444.0 meters in massive sulphides. Assays are unavailable. From 411.2 to 415.2 m, the hole intersected a non-mineralized mafic dyke over 4.0 metres.

- WAN-05-05 has intersected 51.20 metres of mixed magnetite and massive sulphides from 179.2 to 230.4 metres. This intersection is the first intersection within the "Upper Target" (see details below). Assays are unavailable.

Holes WAN-05-01,-02, -04 and -05 were drilled in a direction contrary to hole AN-05-04.

Results to date suggest mineralization is discordant to stratigraphy and overall geometry remains unclear. Additional drilling will be completed to define the overall geometry of the zone and true widths. The zone remains open up dip and down plunge.

"We are still in the early stages of delineating the West Ansil Zone. The Zone appears to be a discordant zone and geometry will become apparent with further drilling. Borehole geophysical anomalies above and below the West Ansil Zone lie on known favourable base metal prospective horizons and are in the process of being tested," said David M. Ongoing exploration drilling is being targeted at four distinct areas related to the original West Ansil discovery:

- The West Ansil Zone, interpreted to be a zone of massive sulphides located at a basalt/andesite contact within the Rusty Ridge Formation and discordant from the Lewis Exhalite to the Beecham Breccia horizons. Current drilling with two machines is focused on defining the geometry of this zone. Results are reported in Table 1.

- A shallow "Upper Target" at vertical depths of approximately 200 metres and interpreted to lie stratigraphically above the West Ansil zone at the Beecham breccia horizon. Current drilling with one machine is focused on testing this target. Results are reported in Table 2.

- Two targets , "North Area", located to the north and northeast of the West Ansil discovery that incorporate unexplained off-hole anomalies and significant alteration zones at the Lewis exhalite and at the andesite/basalt contact that hosts the West Ansil deposit. These targets will be tested shortly.

West Ansil Zone: Delineation Drilling

Drilling on the West Ansil Zone to define the geometry of the sulphide body has progressed with the completion of five additional holes, Table 1.

Holes AN-05-05 (New assay results reported) was drilled parallel to, and 50-metres beneath, hole AN-05-04. Holes AN-05-07 and -08 were vertical holes drilled 50 metres to the SE and 50 metres to the northeast respectively of hole AN-05-04, to the test for an eastward continuation of the zone. These holes failed to intersect mineralization. Borehole geophysics has aided with determination of zone limits and support renewed drilling in a direction contrary to hole AN-05-04.

Hole WAN-05-01 intersected massive sulphides from 425.6 to 443.7 metres crossing hole An-05-04 on section. The interval grades 2.69% Cu, 0.05% Zn over 18.1 metres (Table 1) and encloses a higher grade interval from 440.3 to 443.7 metres grading 5.42% Cu, 0.07% Zn over the last 3.4 metres.

Hole WAN-05-02 intersected stringer and massive sulphides from 439.8 to 446.4 m grading 2.78% Cu, 0.41% Zn over 6.6 metres, 25 metres north and 25 metres west of hole WAN-05-01. The interval includes a massive sulphide section grading 3.39% Cu, 0.12% Zn, 1.63 g/t Au over a core length of 5.0 metres (439.8 - 444.8 metres). The upper contact of the intersection is dyked out and borehole geophysics suggests the hole intersected the bottom part of a conductor which shows good up-dip potential (above the dyke).

Hole WAN-05-04 is currently in progress to test 50 metres above WAN-05-02. WAN-05-04 has recently intersected 42.3 metres of massive sulphide from 401.7 to 444.0 metres (assays pending). The drill hole is continuing in massive sulphides at 444.0 metres.

West Ansil: Upper Target

The "Upper Target", considered to be stratigraphically at the Beecham Breccia Horizon, is indicated by a number of down-hole geophysical responses and a deep magnetic anomaly detected from surface. Two holes have been completed in the area to the south of the West Ansil Zone. Holes AN-05-09 and Wan-05-03 failed to intersect massive sulphides. A down-hole geophysical response from hole AN-05-09 is targeted in ongoing drilling in hole WAN-05-05.

WAN-05-05 has recently intersected 51.20 metres of mixed magnetite ad massive sulphides from 179.2 to 230.4 metres (assays pending).

West Ansil: "North Area"

Two new targets have been defined to the north of the West Ansil Zone. The first lies to the north of the down plunge extension of stringer mineralization intersected in hole AN-05-02 and towards the Lewis Exhalite. A weak unexplained off-hole had been detected in that area in a historic hole (AN-92) which is located approximately 200 metres to the west of the target. Strong hydrothermal alteration is open to the north of hole AN-05-02.

The second target is defined by a number of borehole geophysical anomalies at a vertical depth of approximately 700 metres and located along the same contact as the West Ansil Zone. The best borehole geophysical response was obtained in association with significant alteration and anomalous Cu-Zn values within the Rusty Ridge andesites.

Summer Drilling Campaign (see Press Release: June 07, 2005)

The Alexis -Noranda joint venture is currently operating with six drills. Three drills are focused on the immediate West Ansil program. Three drills are also testing other targets arrayed along the EW2 trend and other prioritized Megatem, Titan24 and Gocad targets across the joint venture properties. In addition, Alexis is proceeding with drilling with one machine on the Louvicourt-type target on the Louvex property in Val d'Or, Quebec in joint venture with Novicourt Inc.

Quality Control

Drilling on the West Ansil property is supervised by Senior Geologist Mario Masson, P.Geo. Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 guidelines who is also responsible for the technical disclosure contained in this press release. Assay samples are taken from drill core (NQ/BQ size) sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and other half retained for future reference. A strict QA/QC program is followed which includes mineralized standards, blank and field duplicate for each batch of samples. Significant assay results are duplicated at the original laboratory and a second independent laboratory. Assays were performed by ALS Chemex - Chimitec of Val-d'Or (Quebec).
