Alexis Minerals Corporation: Eight Drills Recommence Exploration Of The Val d'Or And Rouyn-Noranda Mining Camps, Quebec In 2005.

TORONTO -- Alexis Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:AMC) is pleased to report drilling activity has recommenced in the Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda areas after a seasonal shutdown between Dec 23rd and January 4th, 2005. Eight surface diamond drills are currently active.

Alexis Minerals were pleased to report at their recent Annual General Meeting that 60,686 meters (Table 1) of drilling was completed during (calendar) 2004. The programs are part of an aggressive objective that would see Alexis complete 60,000 meters per year in 2004, 2005 and 2006 across their extensive property portfolio covering over 1,070 square kilometres focused in the Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda Mining Camps, Quebec.

Alexis has recommenced drilling in 2005 with 8 drills currently active on the following programs:

5 drills are active on Alexis-Noranda Joint Venture programs:

- 1 drill in the final phase of follow-up drilling on the Montbray base metal discovery area

- 1 drill testing MegaTEM II base metal targets in the Noralex area, and

- 3 drills testing Gocad targets in the central Rouyn-Noranda camp

3 drills are active on Alexis' Val d'Or programs:

- 2 drills progressing on two deep (Gocad) targets on the Louvex property immediately west of the Louvicourt Mine and in Joint Venture with Novicourt Inc.,and

- 1 drill on programs testing base metal and gold targets on the Auriac, Bloc Sud and Manitou properties (see press release: 30 September, 2004)

A scoping study is also advancing to provide an initial economic assessment of the Inferred Resource of 1.07 million tonnes grading 7.26 grams gold per tonne outlined on the Lac Herbin and Zone II areas, Aurbel Property, Val d'Or (See press release: 7 December, 2004).

Exploration programs were completed on the Cadillac and Noralex projects in December and will be reported shortly.
