GROTON - Alexander A. Kulas, 60, of 84 Lost Lake Drive, died Monday, Feb. 23, in Emerson Hospital Emerson Hospital is a hospital located in Concord, Massachusetts, founded in 1911 on forty acres donated by Charles Emerson. As of 2006, it is a full-service, non-profit community hospital and acute care medical center with 177 beds, providing advanced medical services to over , Concord, after an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary B. (Powers) Kulas; his mother, Genevieve (Howerton) Kulas, of Fort Walton Beach Fort Walton Beach, city (1990 pop. 21,471), Okaloosa co., NW Fla., on the Gulf of Mexico; inc. 1941. It is a year-round beach and fishing resort east of Pensacola. Electronic equipment and small boats are made, and military aircraft are modified here. , Fla.; two brothers, Michael Kulas and his wife, Elizabeth, of Baton Rouge Baton Rouge (băt`ən rzh) [Fr.,=red stick], city (1990 pop. 219,531), state capital and seat of East Baton Rouge parish, SE La. , La., and Jan Kulas and his wife, Karyn, of Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Jody Van Deursen, wife of the late Charles Van Deursen, of Ocala, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Mary B. (Connor) Powers, wife of the late William E. Powers Jr., of Clinton; a brother-in-law, William E. Powers III, of Raynham; a sister-in-law, Colleen A. Glaser, and her husband, Christopher, of Woburn; seven nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Jenny, Andy, Janine, Douglas, Shannon and Brian; and many cousins in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Mr. Kulas was born in San Francisco, Calf., son of the late Anthony A. Kulas, and was raised in Japan, Duluth, Minn., and West Palm Beach, Fla., as his father served with the U.S. Military. He and his wife, Mary, settled in Groton nearly 25 years ago.

He was a graduate of the University of Florida University of Florida is the third-largest university in the United States, with 50,912 students (as of Fall 2006) and has the eighth-largest budget (nearly $1.9 billion per year). A member of Sacred Heart-St. James Church, Groton, Mr. Kulas was an avid reader, a Star Trek "Trekkie," and enjoyed water skiing, chess, golf and tennis.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
