Alex makes headlines.

THE Examiner has readers all over the world ... including Romanian schoolboy Alexandru Moraca, 10, pictured here reading an article about himself.

Examiner journalist Hilarie Stelfox wrote a feature in November November: see month.  about the charity Children in Distress, which supports orphanages and hospices for children in Romania, and is supported by Denby Dale couple Steven and Christine Cook.

The Cooks sponsor Alexandru, who has spina bifida and has spent his life in the St Andrew's Hospice hospice, program of humane and supportive care for the terminally ill and their families; the term also applies to a professional facility that provides care to dying patients who can no longer be cared for at home.  and Children's Centre, Pitesti.

They supplied a photograph of him for the Examiner article and sent a copy of the paper to the orphanage.

Christine says: "It must have been a huge thrill thrill (thril) a vibration felt by the examiner on palpation.

diastolic thrill  one felt over the precordium during ventricular diastole in advanced aortic insufficiency.
for him to read all about himself in the Examiner, especially as he is now well enough to go to school and learn English.

"It is something he will never forget.

He might have been abandoned, unwanted, unloved by his parents but now he is famous in England... and important.

More information about the charity that cares for Alexandru is available from www.childrenindistress.org
