Alert over car keys on show.


POLICE in the Midlands today Midlands Today is the BBC's regional television news programme for the West Midlands region, which comprises the West Midlands county, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire.  warned drivers not to leave their car keys on show at home after a number of vehicles were stolen following break-ins.

In a recent incident a limited edition blue three-door Golf Gti, registered V057 NTD NTD Neural tube defect, see there , was taken from the drive of a house while the owners slept.

The thieves had taken the keys to the car and another vehicle, which was not stolen, after breaking into the property at Belbroughton, near Stourbridge.

 said there had been a number of similar burglaries in north Worcestershire over the past few months when cars had been taken, some of which had been used to commit other crimes.

He said: "People often leave their car keys on display in hallways or on kitchen units for their own convenience but unfortunately it's also very convenient for a thief.

"We've also had car keys being fished from hallways through the letterboxes."
