RENO, Nev. -- Alere Medical, Inc., the leading specialty disease management company, today announced the appointment of Douglas Albro as Executive Vice President/Chief Information Officer beginning May 14, 2007.

Mr. Albro comes to Alere Medical from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, where he was Vice President, Information Management. His accomplishments there include creating the Information Management division, with responsibility for all corporate information and business intelligence applications. At Alere Medical, Mr. Albro will be responsible for continuing the evolution of Alere's Allegro (operating system) Allegro - The code name for the major Mac OS release due in mid-1998.
