Alere(R) Medical Appoints New Chief Information Officer.

New EVP Accelerates Company's Developments in Information Services 

RENO, Nev. -- Alere Medical, Inc., the leading specialty disease management company, today announced the appointment of Douglas Albro as Executive Vice President/Chief Information Officer beginning May 14, 2007.

Mr. Albro comes to Alere Medical from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, where he was Vice President, Information Management. His accomplishments there include creating the Information Management division, with responsibility for all corporate information and business intelligence applications. These information applications support the member, provider, broker, and employer group communities, as well as all internal business areas.

Prior to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Mr. Albro was Director of Information Technology for Humana, where he was responsible for their networks and IT infrastructure. He has also held several other IT positions in his career, and has over 20 years of professional IT experience.

At Alere Medical, Mr. Albro will be responsible for continuing the evolution of Alere's Allegro information system. This industry leading, patient-centric monitoring system is designed to provide access to multiple streams of data to enhance patient management and care. The system integrates all disease states and co-morbidities in one centralized environment, providing nurses with a complete view of each patient's health information.
