), a world leader in productivity boosting, environmentally friendly Environmentally friendly, also referred to as nature friendly, is a term used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal harm on the environment.[1]  anti-stick release agents and lubricants, announced today that Alderox([R]) has doubled the uninterrupted production running time and halved the downtime of a high-performance asphalt drum mixer common in the industry.

Alderox([R]), a soy-based EcoLogo-certified lubricant, has been in use in an asphalt drum mixer in the southeastern United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  over the past two months and has significantly increased asphalt production by sharply reducing the rate of build-up that eventually forces the machine to be stopped for maintenance.

Alderox has proven to withstand the extreme environment present in asphalt production where competitive products have consistently failed.

RCAI President, Gordon Davies, said, "This is a double breakthrough for this segment of the hot mix asphalt industry. These mixers produced approximately 60,000 tons over a period of two months and it took two men a mere two and a half hours to clean out the mixing drum as opposed to about five hours. Under previous operating conditions, without the use of Alderox([R]), the drum required cleaning every 20 days or after about 30,000 tons of asphalt production.

"There are approximately 700 of these specific systems that we are aware of. Our success is already bearing fruit within the industry with minor retrofits of existing drum mixers being scheduled over the coming weeks with one of the largest asphalt producers in the southeast US. In addition to the immediate orders we have received, our success has also resulted in many new enquiries from as far away as Australia.

market greatly increases our ability to capture market share in a very short period of time."

Davies said one of the major manufacturers of asphalt mixers is also pioneering a 'green' version of the drum mixer technology. "They are making great strides in reducing emissions from this process, and, with the lower operating temperatures, we anticipate Alderox([R]) will prove even more beneficial."

The US has 2.27 million miles of paved roads, of which 94% are surfaced with asphalt. In Alabama, the percentage of asphalt paving is even higher at over 98%. Hot mix asphalt pavements are highly recyclable and the material is the nation's most recycled product. A study by the Federal Highway Administration The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a division of the United States Department of Transportation that specializes in highway transportation. The agency's major activities are grouped into two "programs," The Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway  and the EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

estimates 100-million tons of asphalt pavements are reclaimed every year, and 80.3-million tons are recycled, for a recycling rate of 80%. Drum mixers are the most cost-effective way of mixing previously used asphalt and virgin material, but the harsh internal conditions mean they have to be cleaned frequently.
