Aldar unveils Yas Island wonders at WTM.

Aldar, Abu Dhabi's leading property development, management and investment company, has brought Yas Island to the World Travel Market event, being held in London this week.

As part of an Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority delegation, Aldar will showcase this brand new retail, leisure and entertainment destination to industry professionals and the public, the company said in a statement.

Yas Island, surrounded by the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf, was the host venue for the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which took place on November 1.

As well as the state-of-the-art Yas Marina Circuit that will host a full calendar of motorsports event throughout the year, Aldar was responsible for the delivery of 7 brand new hotels, the custom made Yas Marina and all the infrastructure and race-related facilities.

The Yas Hotel is the flagship location for Aldar Hotels & Hospitality, a new division that aims to become a significant force in hospitality in the region. The first hotel to span a race track, The Yas Hotel has an extraordinary 5,000 LED panel gridshell that drapes the structure in a vibrant shroud of lights, it said.

Yas Marina, which hosted over 100 yachts across the race weekend, will see the completion of the Yas Yacht Club and retail centre later this year and has already established its place as a major new yachting destination in the region.

Speaking at the event, Paul Bell, managing director of Aldar Hotels & Hospitality said, "Aldar is very proud to partner with ADTA to showcase the very best of what Abu Dhabi has to offer."

"Following the successful hosting of the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, now is a fantastic opportunity to show the world the remarkable evolution that is taking place in Abu Dhabi as part of the 2030 plan spearheaded by the government," he noted.

"The Yas Marina Circuit is just one piece of a much bigger picture at Yas Island and we are confident that it will become one of the world's ultimate leisure and entertainment destination," he added.

According to Bell, a number of new entertainment destinations will open to the public over the next year. Yas Links Golf Course, the first of its kind in the region will welcome its first players towards the end of this year, he added.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will become the world's largest indoor theme park and the first ever Ferrari theme park in the world when it opens in 2010. The Park will host over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, each designed to bring to life a different part of the Ferrari story.

This includes the world's fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 200 km/h emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a Ferrari F1 car, the G-force experience that takes passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up over 62 m through the roof and back down again, as well as an aerial voyage over Italy, following a Ferrari.

The unique experiences offered at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be complemented by a wide variety of Italian delicacies and unique shopping experiences. Beyond that, a major retail complex, additional leisure parks and residential developments have also been planned for Yas Island, Bell added.- TradeArabia News Service
