Under the agreement terms, the two companies will jointly sell and promote the agent in Japan.

The ophthalmic solution, for which Alcon Japan filed a new drug application in June 2003, is currently available in 83 countries worldwide. In the US, it is marketed under the trade name of Patanol.

Alcon Japan expects to obtain approval and begin distributing the agent with the year.
