ALCOA, a U.S. aluminum company, said its Brazilian subsidiary, Alcoa Aluminio, raised its stake in the Estreito hydroelectric power hydroelectric power: see power, electric; water power. company, in northern Brazil, to 25.49% from 19.08% by buying equity from BHP Billiton, a global mining company.
